Saturday morning, enjoy pancakes at Lion's Club annual pancake breakfast at the Lions Club Hall, Lakeview Road. Purchase coffee and doughnuts at the waterfront park during the morning events to help raise money for a community skating rink. Cod-fish relay races begin Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m at the town dock. One student from each high school class will don foul weather gear (often too large for them!) and carry a codfish in each hand while they race around town. The Small Fry Relay Race will follow for students grades 5 through 8. Trap hauling race begins after the Small Fry compete, followed by lobster crate running over the harbor and dory bailing. The morning events are all about racing to prove who is the fastest! Next it's back to town to prove who is the strongest at the Tug O'War for adults, and 3rd and 4th graders. Enjoy the Arts and Crafts show at the Boothbay Harbor Fire Station from 9:00 to 4:00. The ambulance service personnel will offer a free blood pressure clinic from 9:00 to Noon, and a bubblegum contest at 1:00 p.m. Saturday 9:00-5:00 and Sunday 11:00-2:00 the Boothbay Region Art Foundation will exhibit photographs of past Fishermen's Festivals at One Townsend Avenue. Starting at Noon Saturday, get a great fish fry sandwich at Boothbay Lobster Wharf on the East side of the Harbor. Sandwich and soft drink purchases will benefit the Fishermen's Memorial Fund. Enjoy Maine humorist Tim Sample at Knot Gray's Wharf at Pier 1, beginning at approximately 3:30. Donations to see the show will benefit the Fishermen's Memorial fund. Finish the day with a yummy codfish cake supper at the Congregational Church from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Don't worry, these codfish cakes are not made from the codfish race earlier in the day!

Sunday Noon enjoy a trip on the Novelty, with a tour conducted by the coordinator of the Burnt Island Living Lighthouse Project. The Novelty will circle the inner harbor on the way back to the dock to view the Blessing of the Fleet, a boat parade of the area's commercial fishing vessels which takes place around 2:30, following the annual memorial service in honor of fishermen lost at sea. Conducted by area clergy and held at the Fishermen's Memorial opposite Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on the East side. Come see what life is all about here in the Boothbay Region. Something for everyone this weekend!   & FMI 207-633-4825
